The July Praise and Prayer was not sent out due to health and time issues on our end. Thank you for continuing to remember the ministry of Global Recordings Network in your prayers. David Elliott came down with Shingles and has continued pain from it. Pray for complete healing.
1. KENYA - Pray for Walter as he researches recording opportunities in new language groups and seeks partners. Pray for James as he records the languages and Monica as she keeps the office open. Walter's wife Pauline works 5 hours away in a remote village. Pray that she might find employment closer to the family.
2. CANADA - There is an immediate need for the Board to find a person that can take over the administrative work of David Elliott. The Board has been looking for a new director, with no success at this point. Pray for the Lord's guidance as the Board considers their options going forward.
3. SUCCESSION - Give thanks for new leadership in the USA, UK and Switzerland. Ask our Lord to provide capable leaders for Canada and South Korea along with key staff for Brazil. Pray also for the fulfillment of several Global Ministry Coordinator roles.
4. PHILIPPINES - The Philippines team would love to return to Davao City to work with partners on translating a script. There is trouble and fighting in the area. Pray for peace that this gospel-poor language might soon have the good news available for its people.
5. MEXICO - The Chihuahua Project and Baja Project are distribution trips to agricultural camps in the north of Mexico, to be held in August and October respectively.
6. NIGERIA - After many decades of service, director Kish Hai Bai has retired. Joshua Bello is now the new leader of GRN's work in Nigeria. We praise God for Kish's many years of faithful service. Ask for wisdom and strength for Joshua as he takes on the leadership role.
7. SOCIAL MEDIA EVANGELISM - Pray for the GRN staff who are working on presenting GRN recordings through social media outlets. May God bless these efforts to touch the hearts of people who are drawn to their own home language.
8. CANADA - Marian Elliott had surgery last month to implant the cochlear device. The surgery and recovery have gone well. She is due to have her Cochlear Implant turned on today. She would appreciate prayer as she now needs to spend time learning to hear with the device. This will involve taking 2 to 3 hours each day practising with reading and listening at the same time. It usually takes six months of concentrated effort to effectively be able to hear with the device. Pray for Marian as she dedicates time to learn how to hear with the new device.
9. MEXICO - The team plan to record two languages, Mixtec: Tidda and Zapotec: Quiavini, an unreached group. Although Tidda had a recording already made, it had to be discarded due to poor testimony. Pray for the helpers and a favorable timing for the recordings.
10. MYANMAR - David* and Stephen* continue to serve faithfully in Myanmar amid political unrest. Give thanks for them and their families. Pray for opportunities to record in needy languages even though travel is impossible, and for the ability to distribute finished recordings to those in need of the Good News. (*names changed for security)
11. BANGLADESH - Milton and Moloy, from GRN Bangladesh were unable to get visas to attend the Recordist training in Thailand; pray they will be able to continue to develop their recording skills despite this set back.
12. PAKISTAN SIGN LANGUAGE - The recording team is thankful for the opportunity to start the Sign Language translation training. The Sign Language team is learning translation principles. Pray for the team as they spend the next 11 months completing the Good News in Pakistan Sign Language.
13. KENYA - The team in Kenya requests prayer for recording in the Bodei language. They are in contact with a pastor's coordinator in that area. Pray for good and committed language helpers to enable these recordings to go ahead.
14. GERMANY - They are asking the Lord for a full-time worker / leader; please pray that He will call a person of His choosing to this task.
15. CANADA - There is a need for new Board members that will be able to use their skill and experience to further the ministry. Pray that God will raise up individuals that are eager to use their gifts for Lord in serving with GRN Canada in this vital need.
16. THAILAND - The Thai team is working on trialing their new Good News script. Please pray for the recording and evaluation of a script which will speak to the hearts of Buddhists. Pray too for the motorcycle gospel team as they visit isolated communities with love, care and the gospel.
17. INDONESIA - Pray for Ronnie and Chandra in Indonesia as they make new recordings.They recently attended a Leadership Matters Course to develop their leadership skills.
18. CAMEROON - Approximately 70% of the Cameroon's population does not understand French or English, the two official languages. With more than 250 languages and nearly as many dialects, this represents an immense challenge for the spread of the Christian message. Give thanks for Joseph Ndiba (centre leader) who is studying linguistics to better prepare himself for his work and enable him to train others. Give thanks for Justine who travels to difficult areas to record the languages of Cameroon. In a nation where terrorists are active, pray for boldness for God's people and that many will hear, repent and be saved.
19. AFRICA RECORDINGS - Pray for Yousif who is editing and programming recordings of Look, Listen & Live 1-3 in the Shilluk language, which were recorded in refugee camps in northern Uganda.
20. NEPAL - Give thanks for the team in Nepal who are evaluating existing recordings and considering which languages most need new materials. Pray for the recordist who has eye problems and our distribution specialist who works with partners to make 5fish known and SD cards available.
21. RECORDINGS IN THUR - Praise God for a set of short scripts made in June with Robert, a US citizen born in East Africa. They are in a previously unrecorded language, Thuri. Pray the Lord will mightily use this oral Good News for His glory among the Thuri people.
22. GRN's RESOURCES - Pray for effectiveness in growing awareness of our resources, so that more people can find our resources and share the Gospel in different languages.
23. AUSTRALIA - Information Systems is launching a new project to produce "video shorts." These short video clips will be anything from about 20 seconds to 3 minutes long and will present GRN ministries world-wide. Please pray for this new project.
24. INDIA - Give thanks that our partners have successfully finished recording a Look, Listen & Live (LLL) book in Malayalam of appropriate technical quality. Please pray for the addition of suitable music for all these recordings.
25. INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR (ID) - International Director Tim Strauss is thankful for Joan Rulison, a long-time US staff member, who has taken on the role of ID assistant. Pray for Tim and Joan as they work together as a team in the International Office.
26. GRN AUDIO ARCHIVE - The GRN audio archive contains over 1.5 million files of audio, video and documentation. Pray for God's protection over these files and the systems that access them. Also pray for the Information Systems team as they continually work to keep everything secure.
27. CANADA - Continue to pray for Kevin and Ruth Horan ,as they serve both GRN and Galcom in their respective areas of service.
28. U.S.A. - Pray for Director Bryan Wilson as he continues to settle into the leadership role. Ask our Lord to provide much-needed personnel for the US office as they seek to rebuild.
29. NATIONS WITH MANY LANGUAGES - India, Indonesia, PNG, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu are countries with lots of languages where GRN would love to be doing more. Give thanks for partners working in these challenging locations. Ask our Lord to open doors for GRN ministry.
30. INTERNATIONAL - Pray for all our recordist teams around the world for God's favour, provision and protection.
